Greenlands New Labour Club in Chatburn Road, Preston, shocked locals when it closed in November last year but will reopen under new owners on April 29.

Parents of two, Michelle and Liam Anderson, from Ribbleton, were part owners between 2005 and 2014 but say they have taken the place back on “for the community”.

“It’s very popular and lots of people asked us to reopen it - so we did!” 46-year-old Michelle said. “We’ve completely refurbished the place thanks to support from the community and it’s a big risk but we hope it’ll pay off.”

The reopening sees the return of many popular nights including Northern Soul and live entertainmentas well as darts and snooker teams.

The club shot to infamy in 2011 when footage emerged of children as young as eight cage fighting at the venue, prompting front pages in the Evening Post and across the globe.

The club’s opening hours will be 6pm until 12am, Monday to Thursday, 4pm to 2am on Fridays, 12pm to 2am on Saturdays and 12pm to 12am on Sundays.

The opening night on bank holiday weekend will see a performance from former Coronation Street star Stuart Wolfenden.
