Popular family field day ready for take off

Organisers of Cockerham Field day are promising an event out of this world in honour of British astronaut Tim Peake.

Vice chairman of the annual village occasion Mark Hewitt said the countdown was underway for the popular family day which this year will take on a ‘Space & Sci-Fi’ theme.

He said: “It will be a great day, we have some fantastic entertainment laid on, Jon Gornall will lead the parade on his penny farthing and we have a space theme to coincide with Tim Peak’s incredible journey into space!”

Lara Boardman from Cockerham school will step into the role as the 2016 Rose Queen this Saturday July 2. A keen musician and sports player, Lara said was excited for her big day and representing the village over the next 12 months.
