The event has been organised by a new community-led organisation, Plungington Community Land Trust, to discuss plans for redevelopment and regeneration in the area.

Its first project is the redevelopment of Emmanuel Church in Brook Street – a Grade II listed building rescued from demolition last year after an 18-month wrangle with developers.

Tomorrow (Saturday, August 13), the Trust will host an open day at Plungington Community Centre where residents can learn about plans for the site.

A spokesman for the Trust said: “Our first project is the redevelopment of Emmanuel Church and we will be sharing details about the project and inviting residents to share their views via a community questionnaire and answering any questions they might have.”

The free event takes places from 12pm to 3pm and there will be free food, children’s games, face painting and live music.
