Police reveal what happened during 'incident' which closed Tulketh Brow this morning

Police closed Tulketh Brow in Preston this morning (Monday, September 14) after a woman collapsed whilst walking her dogs.

Police shut Tulketh Brow shortly after 7am whilst emergency services rushed to the woman's aid between Tom Benson Way and Stocks Road.

It has now been confirmed that the woman had been injured after her two dogs began fighting with each other.

The woman was pulled to the ground, causing an injury to her arm, as she struggled to control her dogs.

She has been taken to hospital for treatment and both dogs have been taken to a vets after injuring each other.

A police spokesman said: "It looks like we were called at around 7am this morning to Tulketh Brow, Ashton, to reports a woman had collapsed in the road.

"We attended and found she had been walking two dogs and had been injured when the dogs began fighting with each other.

"She has gone to hospital for treatment for injuries to her arm.

"The dogs have gone to a vet for treatment.

"The road was briefly closed but has now reopened."

The road was shut for around an hour whilst emergency services attended to the woman and officers investigated what had happened.

North West Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.
