Police appeal for help after delivery driver is attacked

Police are appealing for information after a takeaway delivery driver was robbed in Ribbleton.

A 32-year-old man, was delivering food to an address on Sycamore Road, Preston, and was approached by a group of several men who made racist remarks to him, at 10.15pm on Saturday night.

When the victim got back inside his car after delivering the food, one of the men opened the door and punched him to the side of his face. The victim then got out of the car and was attacked from behind by a number of other men, who punched him to the ground and kicked him.

They stole cash from the victim’s pocket during the attack.

The victim had minor head injuries.

The man who punched him in the car is described as white, 20, slim and with cropped hair.He was wearing dark clothing including a hooded top and a hat.

DC Will Hogan of South CID said: “This was a nasty attack on a man who was simply doing his job and it appears to have been racially aggravated. I would appeal to anybody who witnessed what happened or has any information that could assist with our investigation to contact us.”
