Police appeal after motorcyclist killed in road accident

A motorcyclist has been killed in a collision in Burnley.

The 41-year-old man was rushed to the Royal Preston Hospital after his Yamaha 600cc motorcycle was in collision with a black BMW 335 yesterday afternoon (Friday March 11th).

The BMW was turning right into Blacker Street from Windermere Avenue when it collided with the motorbike that was travelling in the opposite direction.

The motorcyclist, who is from Burnley, suffered multiple injuries and later died in hospital.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the accident which happened at 2-35pm.

PS John Jennings Wharton from the Road Policing Unit said: “One man has sadly lost his life as a result of this collision and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened to contact us. I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen either vehicle prior to the collision. The motorcycle travelled from the Colne Road area while the BMW travelled from the Barden Lane area.”
