A new £2m trampoline park in Morecambe will create up to 20 jobs if plans are accepted by the city council.
Jet Ltd, which owns the Pleasureland amusements site in Marine Road Central, is developing plans to build the indoor attraction on part of its car park behind The Winter Gardens.
The company is currently working with architects FWP to put together a development plan that will include the trampoline park and an accompanying eatery. The project is currently at pre-application stage with planning submission scheduled for early May.
Solomon Reader, a director of Jet Ltd said: “We are thrilled to be planning this exciting family attraction for Morecambe town centre, which we hope will stimulate footfall and visiting families for the local area.
“We are working carefully with local planning departments and architects, as well as carrying out user research, to ensure that we build a trampoline park that is innovative and meets user needs efficiently.”
“We have been monitoring the growth of trampoline parks across the UK and taking learnings from what has been done successfully.
“Our approach to a trampoline park for Morecambe will encompass all local and visiting families, of all ages and abilities.
“We envisage fun family visitors and parties, fitness groups and corporate parties as the core audiences, and we are also considering those less mobile or with special needs and ensuring they will be able to enjoy the trampoline park too.”
He added: “We estimate up to 20 jobs will be created from the development of the new trampoline park, covering roles from customer service to engineering to chefs.”
If plans are accepted, the company hopes to open the attraction later this year.
Jet Ltd director Gavin Reader added: “We want to be able to build an attraction that Morecambe can be proud of and will drive business and visitors into the area.”
Representatives from the company will be on hand to answer questions and listen to comments at an open meeting on Friday April 29 from 3pm until 7pm in The Parisian Bar at The Winter Gardens in Morecambe.
