Community Gateway Association has applied to build the two and three-storey blocks on land to the north of Dovedale Avenue in Ingol.

The homes are intended for people over 55, in need of a level of care, and the plans will be decided by Preston Council’s planning committee.

A spokesman for Community Gateway Association said: “CGA have submitted a planning application for an independent living scheme situated on Dovedale Avenue in Ingol, for 60 self-contained apartments, 40 2 bedroom and 20 1-bedroom apartments for residents aged 55 and over.

“Throughout the design process we have consulted extensively with local residents, ward and county councillors and Ingol Neighbourhood Council.

“We now await the outcome of the planning decision so that we can consider how the scheme will move forward over the forthcoming months.”

A statement from PWA Planning said the development would provide “bespoke accommodation for older adults” and said: “This 100 per cent affordable rent, extra care scheme will be let principally to those persons over the age of fifty-five and in need of a degree of care.

“In this respect, the housing is designed with the needs of older people in mind, offering varying levels of care and support available on site.

“Care and support will be available at a sufficiently high level in order to allow a level of autonomy for those who are frail, suffer periods of ill-health and disabilities, avoiding the need to move to residential care where at all possible.”
