A controversial Chorley village rehabilitation centre looks set to be rejected.

Almost 200 letters of objection about plans for Pemberton House Farm, Park Hall Road, Charnock Richard, were sent to Chorley Council.

The council’s development control committee, which meets on Monday night, has been recommended by the authority’s planning officers to refuse the application.

Stocks Hall Care Homes Ltd has applied to demolish buildings at the site and erect a 48-bedroomed residential rehabilitation centre for people with mental illness and alcohol and drug dependencies.

Objectors complaints included the types of people that would be using the centre, increased risks of crime, traffic and its impact on the green belt.

Stocks Hall Care Homes Ltd said the company had co comment to make at this stage.
