The planning application - for a site off Dawson Lane, Matrix Park – was submitted by Euro Garages, one of the UK’s largest privately-owned forecourt operators.

The construction will also feature a convenience store. It was approved by South Ribble Council last month.

Ilyas Munshi, commercial director, Euro Garages, said: “Buckshaw Village is an exciting development and will complement the residential and commercial investments to date. The proposed development will also create up to 70 new jobs.”

Blackburn-based Euro Garages was founded in 2001 by brothers Mohsin and Zuber Issa, with the acquisition of a single petrol filling station in Bury. It operates a filling station on Preston Road, Clayton Brook and on the M61 at Rivington, with a Starbucks.

Plans for a new Starbucks alongside a new Aldi supermarket and community centre on Ordnance Road were met with opposition earlier this year. A campaign against the plans was lead on social media by those behind The Cowshed, on Barnes Wallis Way, and mobile coffee counter Coffee Cow.

Meanwhile Starbucks would not confirm the proposed new move. Mo Tayab, brand manager Euro Garages, said: “We are always looking at new opportunities to reach more customers. However, we have no news to announce regarding a site opening in Buckshaw Village at this time.”
