Preston-based James Hall & Company want to demolish the Windmill Hotel on Preston New Road, near Samlesbury, to make way for the new development.

If given the go-ahead by planning bosses, a total of 30 jobs could be created, split evenly between full-time and part-time positions.

The petrol station and convenience store would be accompanied by fuel tanks, associated access, car parking spaces and landscaping.

It would see a reduction in parking spaces from 65 to 21, with two further disabled spaces created.

Desired opening hours of 6pm to 11pm, Monday to Sunday, have been tabled.

Agents handling the application, Smith and Love Planning Consultants, write: “The Windmill closed towards the end of 2014 and has been marked since October 2014 without any interest in its re-use as a pub/hotel.”
