Incoming chief constable Andy Rhodes, who takes over the post in June, got the work underway alongside Lancashire Police Federation Chairman Rachel Baines and vice chairman Steve Rothwell. The garden, a place for officers and relatives to remember and reflect, is being installed at Lancashire Police’s Hutton headquarters.Rachel Baines said: “The Federation felt strongly that there must be a place where fallen officers, our colleagues, will be remembered.“The garden and memorial we hope will be a fitting tribute to those that have given their lives. “The garden will feature a Memorial Wall, where individual plaques will be placed for each officer and a fountain will take centre place within the memorial.“It has been an honour to spend time with families who have lost loved ones and I know this memorial is welcomed by them to ensure the memory of those who gave their lives on duty is never forgotten.”
