Players took a break from pre-season training to drop in on Rosemere Cancer Center’s Ribblesdale ward at Royal Preston Hospital, spending time with patients and bringing them chocolate treats.

New signing Jarrod Sammut said: “We are currently doing a community blitz. We want to give back to the community and to be more involved in it as the community give us their full backing and support. It’s a two-way street; the community supports us so we want to support them too.”

Nurse Tracey Grihault said: “The Wigan Warriors’ visit gives the patients something different in the ward and something positive to look forward too. We understand it is difficult for everyone in hospital over the holiday season so we wanted to give them some positivity, and we achieved this with the Warriors.”
