Why the date was so special for Preston newlyweds Cain Willow and Georgie Regan

They can’t ignore the number 29, it pops up everywhere and when they were planning their wedding at Avenham Park, in Preston, they had to book it for that day.

Georgie, a quality auditor said: “When we first went on a date, the table we sat at was number 29 and then every time we went out anywhere that number followed us.

“Whether it was other table numbers or dates in some form it always, by chance, fell on the 29th of something and after a while it wasn’t just a coincidence.

“At the time of the 29th of February 2020, we were both 29 years old and it just so happened to be the same as my parents’ anniversary, I was so pleased when they agreed for us to have the same anniversary.”

They have known each other for seven years, having met at the Rose and Crown in Blackpool. Cain proposed while camping in the Lake District in summer 2018.

And their wedding day was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“We had a cake that everyone admired, a band that everybody loved,” said Georgie, “Instead of confetti we had bubbles and instead of wine glasses everyone had metal goblets.

“On top of the cake we had a dragon, and the song for our first dance was Misfits by Shinedown and it was special to us because of the lyrics.

“It was a very unique wedding and everyone we spoke to had a great time.

“Even though there were people from all over the world at the wedding, people who they’d never seen, met or spoken to, I was happy to see them all get on so well, like they’d known each other forever and coming together as one big family.”

Cain, also a quality auditor, added: “I never thought I would feel so welcome among so many people I’ve never known.”
