Dylan Porter, seven, has been walking in stages - from his home in Walton-le-Dale, near Preston - throughout the month of November to raise money for Chester Zoo.

The attraction, like others, is struggling financially as a result of the effects of Covid-19.

The youngster has raised an impressive £1,080 so far, with a further £225 due to the zoo in Gift Aid.

The final stage of Dylan’s walk was completed at 11am on Sunday alongside his supportive mum Nicola and dad Luke - with all three of them dressed up in animal costumes!

Proud grandparents Bill and Carol Coulshed said: “Dylan loves animals of all types and says when he grows up he would love to be a vet.”

His mum Nicola, speaking on their Just Giving page, said: “ When he heard that the national lockdown would affect the zoos he decided he wanted to help.

“Dylan loves to watch The Secret Life of The Zoo and has enjoyed the live feeds from Chester Zoo so decided this would be the charity he wanted to help.

“He also feels strongly about the conservation of our environment and in particular our wildlife.
