"Council meeting finished early! Sports Direct coming to Market Walk very soon", said Coun France.

Coun France, who represents the Wheelton and Withnell ward, welcomed the imminent arrival of Britain's biggest sports retail chain to Chorley's high street.

"Should be great for the young people of Chorley", she added.

However, Chorley Council has since stated that it has not been confirmed that Sports Direct will be coming to Chorley, but discussions with the retailer have been taking place.
