See how Preston Windrush Generation's volunteers help vulnerable residents with free meals during lockdown

The Preston Windrush Generation community group is searching for a new building after being told it must vacate by Friday.

The community group has been making around 130 meals every week during lockdown to help elderly people, including members of the Windrush generation. It has been using Creativity Works Preston on Shepherd Street but must leave after Friday as the building needs to be ready for the schools reopening in September.

Glenda Andrew, co-founder of the descendants' group, said: "The building we have been at has been absolutely fantastic and we have been able to use it throughout lockdown because the schools have been closed. With the schools going back in less than two weeks time we must find a new place we can call home.

"We are begging the council to give us a building so we can carry on with our volunteer work. I believe the black community of Preston should have its very own building."
