Two teams, organised by DW Fitness Gym instructor Craig Williams, took part in the annual fundraising event now in it’s 35th year.

The group split into two crews, with female members completing a 10 mile course and the male team rowing for 21miles.

Craig, 45, who first completed the Windermere Row when he was 16, said the members had all enjoyed the challenge of taking to the water for the very first time.

He said: “It was good to get everyone involved with something different, some of the members had never rowed on water before. It was really good fun.”

The event organised by the Yorkshire-based St Gemma’s Hospice runs over two days.

The female crew who completed the 10 mile cours rowing from Ambleside (Waterhead) to Bowness & back finished in 2 hours 43 minutes, while the male crew rowing the 21mile course from Ambleside to Fell Foot via Bowness and back finished 5 hours 44 minutes.
