Out came the dolls, a sunny setting in the garden and with a specialist wedding photographer behind the lens, a dream fairytale occasion was brought to life.

As the young daughter of Preston based photographer Iain Dunbar, of Eighth Avenue Photography, Frankie Dunbar was becoming a little tired of being photographed by her dad as he practised his photography techniques during lockdown.

So they came up with the novel and creative idea of staging a ‘Disney wedding’ in the garden, complete with Frankie’s Disney princesses as guests and some very artistic photography.

Iain, who is a well known wedding photographer, should have been out photographing three weddings over the Easter weekend, but the coronavirus lockdown put an end to that.

He said: “We came up with it after having to postpone 18 weddings to later in the year and next year so we weren’t going to get to photograph weddings for a long while.

“We started to get a few withdrawal symptoms and in order to continue to use our wedding photography skills decided to photograph a wedding happening in our own back garden.

“It was a beautiful sunny day so we took them outside where Rapunzel married Eric!”

They were worried The Little Mermaid princess Ariel might object at the key moment, as during the movie Eric is her handsome prince, but, thankfully, all ran smoothly.

Bridesmaids Elsa, from the movie Frozen, and Merida, from Brave, assisted Rapunzel down the aisle and Kristoff, who also stars in Frozen, kindly performed the ceremony. That was because, of course, registras are currently unavailable.

“Frankie helped us place the dolls into position as well as helping Rapunzel with her hair and dress,” said Iain.

“After the ceremony the bride and groom took a little time to themselves and we photographed their bride and groom portraits.

“We explained to Frankie this is what happens on a wedding day and we get lovely photos of the bride and groom together on their own.”

“Then of course came the dancing so Frankie put on some of her music and we got them on the dance floor for their first dance and were then later joined by family and friends. Overall it was a fantastic wedding in great weather!”

And of course, in true fairy tale style, they all lived happily ever after.

Iain shared the Disney wedding photos on the business Facebook page and they received a fantastic response. “We had a great response from past and future couples so hopefully it brought a little smile to people’s faces during this time.” Photos: Iain Dunbar http://www.eighthavenue.co.uk
