The cup tie will give the Magpies their first ever match against their illustrious opponents, but while the police acknowledge it is a major occasion, they are urging fans to follow the match from the safety of their homes as Covid infections show no sign of abating.

Chorley face the Rams in the 3rd round of the famous cup competition, at Victory Park.

But while football matches are able to continue during the lockdown, supporters are unable to attend matches to cheer their clubs on.

Chorley Police stated on their Facebook site: "Massive day for Chorley FC and staff at the club have worked tirelessly to ensure the game goes ahead.

"Under normal circumstances this would be an awesome occasion for the Magpies fans and people of Chorley.

"As tempting as it might be to pop down and sample or create an atmosphere please resist, as we as a county (and a country) are in unprecedented times and we all need to do our best to protect our families, friends and our NHS.

"So cheer the lads on from the sofa."

The match gets under way at 12.15pm.
