Mystery Preston artist brings positive vibes to city streets during lockdown

An artist in Preston has begun secretly using their craft to brighten the city's streets and inspire communities during the dark days of lockdown.

Little is known about the mysterious artist who has posted dozens of eye-catching signs across the city in recent weeks.

Simply known as Vews_One, the street artist has fixed signs to lampposts, railings, gates and bus stops, bearing uplifting slogans to lift the spirits of those who to spot them.

Speaking to the Post, the artist said: "The inspiration for all of this came from painting rocks with my daughter and leaving them out for people to find.

"From there we started painting whatever we could get our hands on really, with old bits of recycled wood becoming a favourite.

"We're always on the lookout for old sheets of wood when we're out and about! We have fun doing it and hope that people enjoy it.

"I gave my last piece to the Royal Preston Hospital and I'm told that they're going to put it up in the COVID discharge lounge later this week.

"It’s the point in the hospital where people who have had COVID and survived get discharged from.

"As for a comment on my work? To get your attention makes me smile!"

The artist is careful not to damage any public or private property and mounts the hand-made signs on wooden boards that can be removed.

These are just some of the signs that can be found dotted around Ashton and other areas of the city.
