Darryl Cartwright, of Lostock Hall Junior Football Club, has praised Co-op for giving the group a much-needed financial boost as it reopens applications for other community groups to benefit from its funding.

The company has offered the club a year of support, which started last October. It has also helped to fund Cuerden Valley Park and Walton-le-Dale Recreation Society.

Darryl said: "The Co-op Local Community Fund has helped Lostock Hall Juniors FC considerably and we are really grateful to Jacqueline and the Co-op teams in Lostock Hall, Penwortham and Bamber Bridge for their support!

"Not only have they donated considerable funds, which have helped keep the club afloat during Covid-19, but they have assisted us with social media advertising and with donations of stock for the ambulance crew refreshment vehicle that we helped set up with the North West Ambulance Service in Preston. We are extremely grateful for their support and would highly recommend that any local group/organisation apply to the Co-op’s Local Community Fund."

Applications to find three local causes in the Bamber Bridge, Penwortham and Lostock Hall area are now open nationally. These good causes will receive funds from the 1% payout from the company on what Co-op members spend on selected products and services.

Apply by June 28 at causes.coop.co.uk
