League of Gentlemen star Steve Pemberton will host the online quiz this Saturday to raise funds for the hospice.

Chorley-born Steve, 52, who also stars in ITV’s hit comedy Benidorm, has handed over items from his private collection, including signed League of Gentleman scripts and TV props.

And the keen quizzer, who attended St Michael’s High School in Chorley, will turn question master on Saturday when he hosts a live Facebook quiz. It’s all in aid of Derian House, which offers respite and end of life care to children and young people from across the North West.

Steve said: “I love doing quizzes and have raised over £60,000 for Derian House by playing shows such as The Chase, Celebrity Mastermind and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire

“Now the tables have turned and I’ve devised my own quiz which will be fun to join in and hopefully raise much-needed funds for Derian House and the families they support at this most difficult time.”

The live quiz, held on the Stars & Cars events Facebook page – one of the charity’s biggest fundraising events of the year – will also see Steve hosting a Q&A for fans.

Mick Croskery, Deian’s fundraising manager, said: “We’re really grateful to Steve for hosting the quiz and for donating some cracking memorabilia for auction.

“We think fans are going to snap it up and hopefully raise lots of money for the children and young people at Derian House

“Steve’s quiz is just one of the live shows we’ll be bringing to fans in the coming weeks.”

Steve’s career started when he formed the surreal comedy group, the League of Gentlemen, with university pals, Reece Shearsmith, Mark Gatiss and Jeremy Dyson.

He has gone on to star in Benidorm, Whitechapel, Dr Who, Shameless and Happy Valley.
