Hundreds gather at Preston's Flag Market in support of Black Lives Matter

Hundreds of people gathered in Preston's Flag Market yesterday evening (June 3) to show their support for Black Lives Matter.

The event began at 8pm as crowds gathered outside Harris Museum to stand in solidarity with worldwide demonstrations demanding an end to racism and injustice.

Hundreds of people held placards and powerful speeches were made in honour of George Floyd, 46, who died on May 25 in Minneapolis whilst being detained by police.

Speakers also called for an end to racial prejudice and discrimination here in the UK as people brought attention to injustices they had suffered because of their race.

The Harris and Market was illuminated purple as the City Council showed its support for those protesting in the city and across the world.
