Born and bred Wiganer Jennifer Matthews and her husband David are raffling their £590,000 five bedroom family home and Ferrari for just £2 per ticket.

The couple built the house, named Bramble Lodge, on Chorley Road, Blackrod, from scratch eight years ago.

And the pair, who run an electrical engineering company, first decided to give someone the opportunity to win the home and car in November last year.

The couple made the decision to sell their home as they need a property that is more manageable to clean and run due to Jennifer’s health condition, which is called Ventricular tachycardia and causes a fast and abnormal heart rate. The incurable heart condition means she could die at any moment.

But the coronavirus crisis has made it more difficult for them to sell the house.

Jennifer, 48, who has two teenage children, Jasmine and James, living in the house also, said the couple are using a platform called Raffall to sell 350,000 tickets by February 14 and generate a winner for them.

All Jennifer and David have to do is advertise the raffle.

So far the couple have sold about 140,000 tickets but they still need another 210,000 to reach their target, and only have 27 days left.

Since they started the raffle, Jennifer, who has also come down with Covid-19 and seen her dog die, said things have not gone as well as they would have liked.

She said: "It's not been good really.

"It says on the Raffall site that we need to sell 500,000 but that's not true, we can let both the house and Ferrari go for sale off 350,000 ticket sales.

"We need to sell another 210,000 tickets yet and have only got 27 days left."
