Fylde’s deputy mayoress died on Saturday after a short illness.

Councillor Kath Harper represented St John’s ward in Lytham as a representative of the Ratepayers’ Association from 2007.

The former Lytham Hospital employee leaves behind husband Colin Harper and two sons Tim and Stephen.

Councillor Linda Nulty, Fylde’s mayor appointed Mrs Harper as deputy mayoress in May 2013.

She said: “All our thoughts are with Kath’s family at this time.

“Kath was a great servant to Fylde and the residents of St John’s ward.

“She continued to plan her council work on other people’s behalf until the end.

“Her last civic engagement was only eight days before she died even though she knew she was ill. She was cheerful on that engagement and, indeed, was cheerful to the end.

“She was a good and popular ward councillor. She would always speak up for residents in meetings.

“She was a lovely and friendly person who will be missed by everyone who knew her.”
