The ultimate Prestonian phrase, essentially meaning mate. ‘Alreet cha’ being a common greeting in and around the city.
2. Nowt and owt
The former is an abbreviation of nothing. As in, ‘Much happening? Nowt pal.” And of course if you have ‘nowt’, you’ve got to have ‘owt’, meaning anything. ‘Owt for lunch?’

Something that doesn’t happen very often. True Prestonians will know the phrase literally means once every 20 years.
