A leading rural insurer is urging people in Lancashire to enter the country crime fighters awards 2014 to help crack down on crime in rural areas of the UK.

People are reminded to visit and tell NFU Mutual in 300 words or fewer why they or their community group deserve to win an award, and how they have helped to reduce crime in their local area.

Entries close on August 11.

With cash of up to £1,500 available, the awards will help recognise unsung rural heroes by providing support to help fund anti-crime initiatives.

Richard Percy, chairman of NFU Mutual and judge, said: “As part of the fabric of country life, we have a responsibility to offer continued support to rural communities in their ongoing fight against crime. I cannot wait to start uncovering more of the UK’s unsung rural heroes.”
