Andrew Pearson, from Eccleston, completed the five-mile Rainbow Ramble, with a little assistance, raising funds for the charity which provides conductive education for people with disabilities and life limiting conditions. The 68-year-old was left with severe mobility difficulties after suffering two strokes and spending more than three months in hospital four years ago.He now attends physiotherapy sessions at Rainbow House after looking for a programme specially designed to help his balance and strengthened his arm and legs affected by the strokes.Andrew said: “The ramble gave me a target to achieve and I am grateful to everyone at Rainbow House who have helped and supported me and I am delighted to have been able to raise nearly £300 for the charity.”Andrew says he will take part again next year when his aim is to complete the course without any assistance. He used to do a lot of hill walking in the Lake District and his longer term aim is to walk up one of the hills again.Sonia Harris from Rainbow House said: “We are so proud of Andrew and delighted with the funds he has raised for us. We were all cheering him on and are certain that he will achieve his aim in next year’s ramble.”
