Car parking charges are set to be brought in at three more Lancashire beauty spots.

The County Council wants to install pay and display machines at Conder Green picnic site, Lancaster, Springwood picnic site near Whalley and Wycoller County Park near Colne.

Pay and display schemes were introduced at Beacon Fell County Park and Crook O’Lune picnic site in 2011.

The council said the charges, likely to be £1 per visit or a £50 annual season ticket, would offset some of the costs in running the parks and providing visitor facilities. It is thought that each new site would generate around £6,100 a year.

Consultations have been carried out with users, and LCC claim that “visitor satisfaction levels may be adversely affected but this is likely to be a short term effect.”
