Avenham Park will host Preston’s PedalFest this month, with challenging cycling routes of either 101km or 59km beginning in the park.

Alternatively, there will also be a four-mile Sky Ride Local along the River Ribble.

Organisers are inviting people to Avenham and Miller Parks on Sunday July 24 for the events and a Family Festival - promising something for everyone.

Visitors will be able to try their hand at circus skills, children can learn to ride with balance bikes, and families will be able to make fruit smoothies with pedal power or scale the heights of a mobile climbing wall.

Preston Council’s cabinet member for culture and leisure, Coun Peter Kelly, urged families to take part in the festival.

He said: “These events are a great family day out in our beautiful, award winning parks. You can also support those taking part in the cycling challenge – or if you’re up for it, sign up to ride the route yourself.

“Not only will you see the beauty of Preston’s parks, but also the local countryside too.

“The routes will take in the best that Lancashire has to offer and provide views you may not have come across before.”

Avenham and Miller Parks have been awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
