A sickening stash of child abuse images – including a baby being abused in a car seat – has led to a man being jailed for 15 months.
Sporting a black T-shirt with the slogan “Slice of life, pleasure of cruises”, balding and overweight Richard Eddleston showed no emotion as details of the sickening images he trawled the internet for were given during his sentencing.
Judge Robert Altham, sitting at Preston Crown Court, said: “These are some of the most grave and sickening images I have ever seen. Having seen images of these sort of cases before, I was especially shocked by what I saw.”
One clip involved a dog and a child, the court was told.
Eddleston, 31, of Beechwood Avenue, Walton-le-Dale, near Preston, admitted 17 counts of possessing and making indecent images, but the judge pointed out the charges represented many more images, adding: “Those represent an enormous collection of both still and moving images depicting children either in sexual poses or children engaging in or being subjected to various forms of sex abuse.
“All of the children are bound to have suffered long term sexual and psychological harm. What you need to understand is every one of those images represents a real child who has suffered real abuse. Anyone who downloads these images perpetuates that abuse.”
Prosecuting, Paul Cummings said the images came to light when Lancashire Police carried out a search warrant at a relative’s home in 2014.
His relative has been completely exonerated, but Eddleston was arrested when a DVD of his ‘collection’ was found in a rucksack.
