Chorley FC boss Gary Flitcroft will be under starter’s orders this morning.

For he is opening a Chorley independent bookmaker’s second shop – exactly a year ago since the firm launched its first shop in the town.

Last March, Betabet became Chorley’s first truly independent bookmaker for years when it opened next to the Colliers Arms pub on Pall Mall.

Its owner Nick Burton, who also owns the Colliers, said he believed there was a gap in the market in the town for punters to challenge the bigger bookmakers over prices, service and value for money.

Flitcroft also opened that shop and has been asked to do the honours again this morning with the firm’s second shop on Market Street in the town centre.

The shop’s opening comes right ahead of this year’s prestigious Cheltenham Festival, taking place from next Tuesday, through to Gold Cup day on Friday.
