Olympic badminton champion Gail Emms will visit Preston to speak at the Walker Smith Way sports awards.
The silver medallist will be talking about sport and its influence on wellbeing and healthy lifestyle in young people.
Gail, who won a silver medal at the Athens Olympics and is now retired, said: “I am honoured to have been asked to speak at the Preston sports awards.
“Finding good local talent and nurturing that desire to be the best you can be is priceless. Anything I can do to help inspire athletes is very important to me in my ambassador role.”
The awards are on March 13 and nominations close on Monday.
