OAP from Bolton-le-Sands dies two days after crash

Police have confirmed that a 90-year-old man from Bolton-le-Sands has died in hospital following a crash.

The man was a passenger in a Vauxhall Astra which collided with a blue Honda Jazz on the A591 at Ings at 12.10pm on Saturday August 6.

The 90-year-old man was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where he died this morning.

The Astra was driven by a 56-year-old man from Bolton-le-Sands, who is in a serious but stable condition in the Royal Preston Hospital.

The Honda was driven by an 81-year-old woman from Staveley who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for five hours whilst emergency services dealt with the incident and police carried out collision investigation work.

Cumbria police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to contact PC Marc Holmes of the Mobile Support Group based at Kendal.
