A LANCASHIRE housing association is searching for the unsung heroes of the community.

Progress Housing Group has launched its Community Stars awards which will recognise residents who have gone out of their way to improve the lives of others living in their communities – from brightening up their garden to helping make their community a better place to live.

The association wants people to nominate those in the community who go the extra mile, help out others around the house or are involved in community or charity work.

The award categories include: resident involvement champion; young community champion and good neighbour.

If you know someone who deserves to be rewarded for the contribution they make then you can nominate them by completing the nomination form at

The closing date for nominations is tomorrow.

The winners will be announced at Progress Housing Group’s annual tenant conference at Ribby Hall, Wrea Green on March 3.

Tim Frier, Group Marketing Manager for Progress Housing Group, said: “These awards are a fantastic way for us to celebrate how individuals and groups in our communities are making positive differences to the lives of others.”
