Nominations needed for this year's Community Awards

South Ribble Community Awards are returning and nominations are now open for this year's six awards.

Presented in front of more than 200 people at the annual ‘Big Do’, the awards recognise people, businesses and groups who spend extra time and go that little bit further to make their community a better place.

Hosted by South Ribble Partnership, this year will be the fourth awards ceremony.

The awards are: Business in the Community Award, the Community Impact Award, Volunteer of the Year, Young Volunteer of the Year, the Special Achievement Award and Spirit in the Community Award.

Opening this year’s awards is last year’s Volunteer of the Year award winner, Joanne Duncan, founder of TAAG, a charity for teenagers with ADHD.

She said: “Winning the Volunteer of the Year award was massively appreciated by myself and the TAAG team. It was a nice surprise and it was lovely to be recognised by the community for what we do and continue to do so.”

This year’s Big Do will be held on Thursday 13th October 2016.
