NHS staff set to walk out again

Staff at hospitals and clinics will walk out between 7am and 11am on Monday.

A spokesman for Unison said: “Staff have seen their pay fall in real terms each year since 2009.

“This year, the Government decided not to pay even the one per cent rise recommended by the NHS Pay Review Body.

“Instead, most NHS staff will not get any cost of living payment this year.”

Hospitals have rearranged some outpatient clinics, but say that patients should attend as planned, unless they have been contacted directly.

Karen Swindley, Workforce and Education Director of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: “We have tried and tested plans to manage disruption to services, including industrial action, to make sure our patients receive safe and effective care in all circumstances. 

“Some planned procedures and outpatient clinics that were scheduled for Monday morning have been rearranged.

“It is important that all patients do attend their appointments as planned, unless we have been in touch directly to reschedule.

Staff at the North West Ambulance Service, which covers Lancashire, are also planning to strike at the same time as other NHS staff.
