Ribble buses ride once more

THE Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust will be displaying a selection of Ribble Buses dating from the 1930s to the 1970s, at Lytham Hall on August 31 from 10am to 4pm.

Free bus trips will also be available to the public around Lytham town centre.

Bungalow ‘yes’

PLANS to demolish a double garage and single-storey extension at 44 New Lane, Penwortham, to be replaced with a detached dormer bungalow, have been passed by South Ribble Council.

SOUTH Ribble Council’s next neighbourhood forum for the Leyland area will be held next month.

The forum meeting will take place at the Civic Centre in West Paddock, Leyland on Thursday September 11.

Watch award for top golf star

A PRESTON golfer scored a hole-in-one during a recent club competition and was rewarded with a limited-edition BOSS watch as recognition for the achievement.

Dan Hall, 25, scored his ace on the 178-yard, par-three second at Shaw Hill GC, and the one-handicapper was rewarded with the watch.

Meet with city MP at library

PRESTON’S MP Mark Hendrick will hold his next surgery on Saturday September 6 at Savick Library in West Park Avenue, Savick.

The surgery starts at 11am and runs until 1pm.

Surgeries are run on a first come-first served basis so there is no need to book an appointment

PACT meeting

THE date has been set for the next Police and Communities Together (PACT) meeting in the Ashton area of Preston.

The meeting will be held on Monday September 1 at Ashton Methodist Church Hall in Wellington Road from 6.30pm.

Organ recital

A LUNCHTIME organ recital will be given at Preston Minster today by David Scott-Thomas, lasting approximately 40 minutes.

Admission free, with retiring collection.

Places for Bay walk sold out

A CHARITY walk across Morecambe Bay in aid of the Rosemere Cancer Foundation has sold out.

The Cross Bay Walk will take place on Saturday September 6.

Health walks at valley park

PEOPLE will be able to enjoy a health walk at Cuerden Valley Park in Bamber Bridge every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the rest of August.

They will be lead by a health walks leader and last for two hours.

Family gala day

THE Mayor of South Ribble Coun Graham Walton will officially open the Gregson Green family gala day on Sunday. It takes place at Gregson Lane Playing Fields and will raise cash for the new community centre.

Meeting takes place tonight

A MEETING of South Ribble Council’s planning committee will take place tonight.

The meeting will be held at the Civic Centre in West Paddock Leyland from 6pm and is open to the public. Agenda items include plans for external lighting at Whitestake Golf Driving Range.

Waste site fire

FOUR fire crews were called to a fire involving recycling at Global Renewables in Leyland at around 3pm yesterday afternoon. It was a small fire involving a sifting machine. Nobody was hurt.

Car park works is set to start

A NUMBER of council pay and display car parks in Lancaster are scheduled to be closed temporarily to allow for resurfacing works to take place.
