All funds raised through the shop - located at the former Caring Hands Group’s headquarters - which has re-located to Preston Docks - will be used to develop the Foundation. The aim is to work with charity Dementia UK to recruit a specialist Admiral Nurse, providing support free of charge for local people living with dementia and their families.

Caring Hands Group chairman Greg Bamber said: “Dementia can be a devastating condition, but when families are empowered with the right information and have access to appropriate support - whether that’s ensuring someone is taking the right medication, offering social support, or providing practical advice on issues such as benefits or housing rights - people can enjoy a good quality of life, and that is what we are trying to help people achieve through the foundation.”

Mrs Kennedy said: “It is great to see community efforts to raise funds for such an important cause.”
