A NEW park is to be created as part of a new housing development in Preston.
The open space, known as Lea Park, will be made as part of the Cottam Hall development, and will be adopted by Preston Council.
At this week’s full council meeting, it was agreed the council would adopt the park, and be paid £301,279 to maintain it for the first 20 years.
The park will be a 2.7ha open space with an informal sports pitch, multi use games area and natural play features.
Coun Robert Boswell, cabinet member for community and environment, said: “Preston may have a lot of problems but one thing it’s well endowed with is good, well maintained parks.
“But we can always do with another one, and hopefully this will be one people from all areas of Preston can use.”
