Ten four-bedroom houses have been finished on Westminster Road as part of the long-awaited West End One Project, formerly known as Chatsworth Gardens.

Half the properties in the scheme are being pre-let prior to completion of the renovation work, due in autumn 2016.

The £5.5m project involves renovating 27 houses in the Albert Road and Chatsworth Road areas into one, two, three, and four bedroom homes.

The first phase of a two phase development will see over 50 empty, former guesthouses transformed into family homes for private rent.

West End One is expected to be followed by West End Two which also breathe new life into long-term empty, former guesthouses on an adjacent site.

Lancaster councillors and senior officers were shown around the four-bedroom houses prior to their handover.

David Smith-Milne, managing director of PlaceFirst said “We are really pleased to be able to deliver an aspirational choice of high quality homes for rent in the West End of Morecambe.

“The market response in the new homes has been tremendous and its clear that customers value not only the quality of these brand new homes, but the direct customer service.”

The scheme, first mooted in 2005, is finally on track after 10 years of false starts and problems, which caused heartache for neighbouring residents as the houses fell into a state of disrepair.

Anyone interested in renting a brand new, energy efficient home at West End One can register interest online through PlaceFirst’s website www.placefirst.co.uk, or call 0161 413 5810.
