Nearly 50% of people in the North West know someone affected by heart disease
Coronary heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer and the revelation comes ahead of the BHF’s Wear it. Beat it. campaign that launches on February 5 and aims to get the nation wearing red to fight heart disease and raise £1m for the charity.
Around 901,000 people are living with heart and circulatory disease in the North West and the BHF poll revealed more than half of people in the North West (51%) fear a loved one could be struck down with a potentially life-threatening heart attack or stroke in the future and that almost half (47%) have already lost someone or know a loved one affected by heart disease.
