A FUNDRAISING cycle ride by young people and youth workers from Lancaster has won a national award.

The Lancaster Youth Challenge, a sports and arts programme delivered by The Dukes Theatre, Marsh Community Centre, Fylde YMCA and the national cycle charity CTC, received the Sportivate Sport England Project of the Year Award.

The award was in recognition of Lancashire Youth Challenge’s project in 2013 which involved a group of young people and youth workers cycling from Lancaster to Edinburgh over three days.

Members of the team travelled to the Houses of Parliament in London to be presented with their award at a ceremony hosted by MP Eric Ollerenshaw.

Guy Christiansen, creative learning director at The Dukes said: “We are thrilled to have won this award.”
