A CONVICTED murderer, who was found dead in his cell at Preston Prison, died from heart failure, an inquest heard.
David Deakin, 68, had suffered two previous heart attacks and had other health problems, coroner Alan Wilson was told during a two-day hearing in Blackpool.
Deakin, convicted of beating and stabbing a man to death in 1998 in what a judge described as an “execution,” had been moved from Kirkham Open Prison to Preston for health reasons after he suffered a fall and needed treatment at the Royal Preston Hospital.
He was found dead in bed on the morning of December 27, 2013. The inquest was adjourned until November 23 for further medical evidence.
