Motorist stopped by police on M6 for driving 44 years on provisional licence

A motorist stopped on the M6 by police had been driving for the last 44 years on a provisional licence.

He was caught by Lancashire Roads Police on the motorway by junction 31 at about 11.30am today.

According the roads police Twitter account the driver had had his provisional license since he was 12.

However there is speculation online over how the motorist could have had a license from such a young age.

Tweeting at the roads police Helen Polba‏ said: “Didn’t think you could get a provisional license at 12 unless for a farm vehicle?”
