South Ribble Council is set to allocate £112,705 towards fixing a drainage problem on playing fields in Gregson Lane.
The money, from the captial budget, together with external funding from Sport England and community contributions, will be spent bringing Gregson Green, off Gregson Lane, into full use.
Coun Peter Mullineaux, said: “Gregson Green has poor natural drainage over the full site. The drainage to the football pitch has progressively become worse during the last five years, so the improvement proposals are for a drainage scheme to be installed to cover the full site including football pitch, cricket field and open grassed areas.
“This will enable better use of all facilities and for the open grassed areas to be used for other community, play and sport activities. This will represent a big improvement for the whole community.”
Four years ago the council spent £150,000 on a new children’s play area.
