TWO men had to be rescued by the coastguard after their boat capsized.

A distress call was made to Southport coastguard at 8.50pm on Sunday after the boat overturned in the River Douglas near Hesketh Bank.

The men were pulled out of the water by crew a short time later, and checked over. Their condition was not thought to be life threatening.

The boat was towed by Lytham coastguard to the Douglas boat yard.
