There are few people who can say they weighed less when they were pregnant than when they weren’t.
But that is exactly what happened to Rebecca Roscoe from Bamber Bridge.
The 27-year-old new mum-of-one joined her local Slimming World group back in December 2013 – weighing 13 stones 11lb – to try and lose weight and work on her fitness.
But not long after, she began putting on weight for a different reason when she found out she was expecting.
Rebecca, a secondary school teacher, of Langdon Crescent, said: “I initially joined because I found I wasn’t fitting into clothes as well as I had been and decided that I wanted to be healthier.
“I realised I was getting tired doing things that shouldn’t be tiring.”
Rebecca, and her drum teacher husband, 29-year-old Martin, welcomed New Year’s Day baby Seren Ruth Roscoe on January 1, weighing eight pounds and four and half ounces.
And she was also the group’s first ever Slimming World baby.
“Seren was due on Christmas Eve, but I went to the group to get weighed and I tipped the scales at 13 stones, eight pounds.”
Since giving birth, Rebecca has been back to her Slimming World group where she jumped on the scales to discover she had lost 23 pounds.
“All the ladies were fussing over Seren because they have been with me throughout the whole pregnancy so they were very excited to meet her.
“Having lost a little weight before I fell pregnant and being part of the group during this time was great because it helped me to have a healthier pregnancy.
“I also gave birth with very little intervention and was out of the house, walking about and pushing the pram just two days after.”
Group leader Joanne Shaw said: “We worked together throughout Rebecca’s pregnancy, managing her weight healthily and I’m very proud of her.
“I’m gutted she didn’t name her baby after me though!”
