Man wanted by police in burglaries probe

A man who is wanted in connection with several burglaries in Preston is at the centre of a police appeal.

Police are seeking help from members of the public in tracing Damien James Bennett, 42, of no fixed address.

He is wanted in connection with 14 burglaries which have occurred at businesses across the city centre between Monday, May 8 and Thursday, June 1.

During each of the incidents, items including tills, spirits and the takings from gambling machines and vending machines were stolen.

Bennett also goes by the name Benny, said police.

They are appealing for anybody with information as to his whereabouts to contact them as soon as possible.

PC Chris Brown, of the Preston Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We believe Damien Bennett is in the Preston area and we are urging anybody who sees him, or knows where he may be, to contact us as soon as possible.”

He added: “Similarly we would urge Bennett himself, if he sees this appeal, to hand himself in.”

Bennett is described as being white. He is around 6ft tall and of medium build, with short, or shaven dark hair.

He is said to have a sun-style tattoo on his lower left arm.

There is a possibility he could be wearing sunglasses and a hooded top which is tied around his neck.

And police added that he will also possibly be in possession of a backpack.
